Sunshine talk: AMBER eloquent contest

In order to promote intensive educational content, practice skills, and practice English at a high level for students in the second semester of the 2020-2021 school year, Sunshine Maple Bear Primary School organizes a contest ” Sunshine talk” runs from late March to early April.

Sunshine talk consists of two different rounds:

The first round lasts from March 12 to April 3, 2021. In this round, all elementary students  make their own videos in  English, upload them to the specified website. The Jury judges the videos and selects 15 candidates for the second round. Each block will be assigned a different topic to perform, appropriate to the age of the students.

Grade 1 and Grade 2 students will make storytelling videos. The Jury judges on the following criteria: pronunciation, fluency, expression, creativity, accuracy

Students in Grades 3, 4, 5 make  event narrative videos or give a speech on a topic. The jury will judge on the following criteria: pronunciation, fluency, body language, creativity, content, and structure.

The second round of the contest will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 on Saturday, April 17, 2021. The 15 candidates selected in the first round will present their speeches on stage, watched by the audience including students from the whole school, and parents of round 2 students.

The judges will mark each contestant’s performances and announce and award prizes at the end of the program.

“Sunshine talk” is expected to create an English playground for SMBers, enrich and diversify the school’s English teaching activities. At the same time, the competition also creates an environment for the children to practice confidence, presentation ability and giving their own point of view.
